There were a number of nice surprises at our Annual Meeting and Christmas Party. You may have taken home one of the several Christmas gifts if you knew: that Tennessee was the last state to join the Confederacy; or that the Nutcracker’s enemy was the King of the Mice; or that Clementine wore size nine sandals. Sound hard? Sound wacky? A number of those at the Party knew (guessed ??) enough answers to be lucky winners.
But especially nice were the Awards made at the Annual Meeting. Bill White received the Presidential Award for Exceptional Service during the year. We can thank Bill for an outstanding array of programs at our meetings as well as numerous other services to the Club. He can proudly display the award plaque in his home throughout the coming year.
A very special event was Harrison Gill and Jim Cate being inducted as Life Members of the Club. This Hall of Fame award is given, when in the judgment of the Awards Committee and the membership, a member has provided long and dedicated service to the Club above the normal course of duty. Harrison and Jim join Ernest Seagle and Wallace Bell as active Life Members.
Our hearty congratulations to all three award recipients. See more on Harrison and Jim on pg 3. And while you are looking around, check out the Program Schedule on pg 2. Bill LaGanke has a great one coming up in January; then Joel Rind in February. But also in February is a ‘must attend’: The APS Winter Show in Atlanta – February 18-20!
How do you want to serve our Club next year? Some positions have been filled but there are some extremely important spots just waiting for you. Why not give Bob Davidson a call (or email) and say, “What have you got for me?”….847-1537 or dogbonegrr@aol.com.
All of you who are ‘connected’ just must visit our two web sites and see what treasures abound. If you didn’t get a computer for Christmas, find a friend who did and go to: http://chattsc.tripod.com (Club) and www.stampclubs.com (Federation). You’ll be glad you did!
There are still a very few 2005 dues payments outstanding. For our Club’s sake! Make certain yours is not one of them. Treasurer, Carl Anderson stands ready to accept your $10.
